The remote has three modes of operation.

Mode 1 (For use on rdr-gx350 / rdr-hx650/680/750/780/785/950/980/1080
and rdr-hxd770 to rdr-hxd1095)

This mode will allow you to look at your recorders info pages.
Including the hard drives total hours of use / hard drive errors / firmware version and more.

Mode 2

This mode will allow you to remove the region 2 locking of your DVD / Blu-ray player.

Please note remote will not work with Sony's portable DVD players or Sony's playstations.

1. Use the remote that came with the player to bring the player out of standby, Remove disc from player.
2. Use the remote. Wait for green led to stop flashing.
3. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote
4.Switch the power off and back on. Next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback.

Mode 3

This mode will allow you to format the recorders hard drive removing the E01 error
you receive after fitting a new drive in the recorder.

Allowing you to upgrade the HX750 / HX850 / HX950 + HXD770 / HXD870 / HXD970 / HXD1070

range with a larger hard drive (1TB Max).

Or to replace a faulty drive in all other models of recorder with a drive size the same as the original.

The remote will format the hard drive in the following models

Sony RDR range RDR-GX350 / RDR-HX650/680/750/780/785/950/980/1080 / RDR-HXD770 to RDR-HXD1095.

Sony models RDR-HXD770/870/970/1070
will accept a drive of up to 1TB and will use all drive space with no extra work.

Sony models RDR-HX750/850/950
will accept a drive of up to 1TB and will use all drive space with no extra work.

Other model numbers will require the use of a PC and hard drive sector editor software to release the full drive space.

Sony models GX350 / RDR-HXDx90 and HXDx95 range will accept a larger drive but will require more work to release the extra
drive space for use by the recorder. (Hard drive sector editor).
